“The Swarm” Film Trailer and Development Diary

Edit Decision List

Budget

I created a budget on Microsoft Excel as it allowed me to input the information necessary such as what I am spending the money on (such as Director), then I could input how long I needed it for and how much it costed each day. I did this with every thing I need to create my trailer and included links at the bottom so I could go back and know where I got my information from – even though they could possibly be subject to change if the sites change the prices. However, I was able to come up with a total for all of the good necessary such as props, location, cameras etc as well as having a set amount of money just incase anything went over (emergency money).

Question 7 (Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?)

Question 7

Question 6 (What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?)

Question 6

Evaluation Question 5 (How did you attract/address your audience?)

Question 5

Question 4 (Who would be the audience for your media product?)

Question 4 –

(Script)

My target audience for ‘The View’ magazine will be mainly female teenagers at the age of around sixteen years old. This is due to the content of the magazine and essentially what the magazine is about. All other audiences are welcome but due to the specific nature of the product, only a certain audience would be attracted. The reasoning for the specific age range would be the simple writing such as the interview on the double page spread. Teenagers wouldn’t buy a magazine and sit down to read an entire article as it would bore them. The audience this product would attract would be country music fans who listen to country music and like to keep undated within the music industry. Due to the age group, the audience would either be full time or part time students either in school or college for example. Part time students would most likely have some sort of income from part time work. Attracting this kind of audience would be more productive to the magazine as they would actually have the money to buy it.

Evaluation Question 3 (What kind of media institution might describe your media product and why?)

Question 3

Evaluation Question 2 (How does your media product represent particular social groups?)

Question 2 –

(Script)

My front cover represents particular social groups through the use of images. The style, pose, make-up and props such as the guitar and the costume like the floral top and jeans suggest similar groups of people. Obviously, as it is a music magazine, certain groups of people that are interested in country music would be represented through the magazine as it is quite specific. For example, a pop magazine would appeal to a larger portion of people but due to the country genre and the fact that it will be distributed and produced in the UK limits the audience. My target audience is mainly female teenagers so using a female teenager on the front cover will make the readers want to pick it up as she the model is essentially representing them. This links in with Laura Mulveys Male Gaze Theory as they will aspire to be like her. This is the same with the contents page as another female teenager is used. The colour scheme represents the target audience but the content of the actual magazine represents the people who are interested and enjoy country music. The double page spread not only connotes the country genre as its background is yellow which represents freedom and happiness. This could also represent certain musicians as she is holding a guitar. Overall this magazine does represent  particular social groups.

Evaluation Question 1 (In what ways does your media product use, develop and challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I have created an evaluation of the entire process of creating this Country music magazine through many different types of technology such as Keynote, powerpoint and pages.
